Willy Wonka Jr. Audition Requirements 

  Please prepare a short monologue or poem in the style of the character. Prepare a Broadway orDsiney song in the style of the character you are auditioning for. If you are auditioning for a lead role, please be prepared to sign that characters song. Only if asked.
Willy Wonka:
 -enigmatic character; at once mysterious and mischievous but
 also charismatic.
 -young man* (or a young woman) who is charismatic, engaging
 and has a great voice.
 -should be able to be funny and serious and change between the
 two on a dime.
 Vocal Range G3 - F5
 Charlie Bucket:
 -emotional heart and soul of the musical.
 -should have lots of pluck and enthusiasm.
 -Charlie is in nearly every scene, so make sure you can handle
 the demands of a sizable role.
 -should be a great at singing and acting
 -young man* (preferably)
 Vocal Range A3 - F5
 Grandpa Joe:
 -grandfather we all wish we had when we were Charlie's age. He
 is caring, patient, sweet, and always reminds Charlie to look on
 the bright side.
 -young man* (preferably) who can be kind, funny, and makes a
 great duo with Charlie.
 -sings a bit, but the singing is secondary to solid acting skills.
 Vocal Range Bb3 - Eb5
 Mike Teavee:
 -is not just a TV junky, is also addicted to video games, the
 Internet and any other mindnumbing technological device.
 -is bratty, loud and obnoxious and does not understand the word
 -young man* (preferably)
 Vocal Range G3 - G5
 Ms. Teavee:
 -is a take on all television moms of the distant past. Lookup June
 Cleaver (Leave it to Beaver) or Marion Cunningham (Happy
 Days) or Carol Brady (The Brady Bunch).
 -she's perfectly put together and a bit vacant.
 -young lady*
 Vocal Range B3 - F5
 Veruca Salt:
 -wealthy, class-conscious, and completely spoiled.
 -young lady*
 -great singer and actor in this role who can make bold choices
 Vocal Range A3 - E5
 Mr. Salt:
 -solution to most problems is to buy way out.
 -upper class
 -sings very little.
 -young man* (preferably)
 Vocal Range C4 - G4
 Violet Beauregarde:
 -gum chewer extraordinaire
-hails from Snellville, Georgia, so it's nice if she has a Southern
 American accent, but not necessary.
 -bluecollar, middle class brat.
 -young lady* with strong voice.
 Vocal Range G3 - G5
 Mrs. Beauregard:
 -teacher of geography and has invested a great deal of hard-
 earned money on therapy for her gum-chewing daughter, with
 less than stellar results.
 -role is virtually non-singing.

 Vocal Range C4 - G4
 Augustus Gloop
 -overachieving eater.
 -young man* (preferably)
 Vocal Range B3 - G5
 Mrs. Gloop:
 -Augustus' mother who has overindulged her son with food.
 -character actress who isn't afraid to take positive risks both in her
 acting and her singing.
 -young lady*
 Vocal Range B3 - E5
 Phineous Trout:
 -reporter who announces the winners of the Golden Ticket contest
 throughout the show.
 -requires some singing
-great announcer's voice and good stage presence.

 Mr. Bucket:
 -has a nice voice, and is a natural nurturer.
 -young man* (preferably)
 Vocal Range D4 - C#5
 Mrs. Bucket
 -has a nice voice, and is a natural nurturer.

 -all ages/genders to play many different parts & characters.
 *identifying or non binary performer comfortable with playing a cis
